If funds are needed beyond the Direct Stafford Loan maximum of $20,500 per year, law students may borrow through the Direct GradPlus loan program, or through private loan programs, up to the amount of the total cost of attendance budget shown above. After paying tuition and buying books the remaining funds are available for living expenses including rent, food, utilities, transportation, etc. Financial aid budgets do not include summers. Funds are dispersed in two equal installments with half of the overage being available in August and the other half available in January. Students should develop a budget that allows them to live on available resources.

Students seeking information on student loan options or adjustments to their cost of attendance can contact the University's Financial Aid Office (at 803-777-8134) to speak with a financial aid counselor.
