Career Services
Student Services
The following services are available to students:
Each year, many employers interview students at the USC School of Law. The office assists law firms, the judiciary, corporations, government agencies, and other legal employers by arranging interviews during fall and spring.
Career Services sponsors various seminars and workshops on career-related topics. These include resume writing, networking, interviewing skills, and other job-search strategies. The office also presents panel discussions featuring graduates who discuss their careers in traditional and nontraditional legal areas to give students a more realistic view of the kinds of work they might enjoy. A mock interviewing program is available for students to practice interviewing skills.
The USC School of Law, together with other regional law schools, sponsors several off-campus interviewing programs. The Southeastern Law Placement Consortium is one of the longest running off-campus programs in the US, with employers from across the country interviewing second and third-year law students in Atlanta, GA. Additionally, students may participate in the Mid-Atlantic Legal Recruiting Conference, which includes law firms and government agencies in the Washington DC area. Other cooperative recruiting conferences available to USC law students include the Southeastern Minority Job Fair, the Patent Law Interview Program, and the National Public Interest Career Fair.

The Office of Career Services helps law students find summer jobs as well as part time work during the second and third years of law school. Some of these jobs result from on-campus interviews. Other job opportunities are posted in the Job Bank section of eAttorney.
Several major publications are produced by the Office of Career Services. The Employer's Handbook highlights students and the USC School of Law to employers. The Office also publishes information concerning resume preparation, sample letters, and interviewing skills.
The USC School of Law has reciprocity agreements with the Career Services offices of many law schools throughout the country. Students who are seeking jobs outside South Carolina may ask the Office of Career Services to write another law school asking the school's help in the job search.
