A Graduation Celebration will be held on Thursday, May 9th from 6:30-9:30 pm at the Columbia Museum of Art. Graduates and one guest will be admitted free of charge. Additional guest tickets are $25 and may be purchased with a check (made payable to USC Foundations), cash, or online. Students should pick up their complimentary Graduation Celebration Tickets from Megan Seiner in Room 140A or Tootie Hooks in Room 140. A jazz band will provide entertainment and heavy hors d'oeuvres, beer and wine will be served.
School of Law Commencement will be held on Friday, May 10th on the Horseshoe at the University of South Carolina. The Horseshoe is the historic section of campus located off of Sumter Street. Commencement will begin promptly at 9:30 am. Class of 2013 law graduates need to be in Drayton Hall at the Wardlaw College building (across the street from the Horseshoe) at 8:30 am. Graduates should arrive with cap, gown and hood.
If there is a threat of inclement weather, a decision will be made on Thursday, May 9th at 4:00 pm as to the location of Commencement exercises. This decision will be placed on the School of Law website (law.sc.edu). In the event of inclement weather, Commencement exercises will be held in the Koger Center, located at the intersection of Assembly and Greene Streets. If Commencement exercises are held at the Koger Center, graduates will be limited to ten (10) guests per graduate. Tickets for admission to the Ceremony in the event of inclement weather will be distributed to 3Ls the week before Commencement. Please pick them up from Megan Seiner or Tootie Hooks in Room 140 by Thursday, May 4th. Overflow seating will be available in the School of Law auditorium, with a video-feed of the ceremony.
The Pendleton Street garage (on Pendleton between Bull and Pickens Streets) will be available for guests attending Commencement exercises. Families and friends attending the ceremony may park in the metered spaces at no charge. Other parking spaces in the Pendleton Street garage are by permit only and vehicles parked there are subject to being towed. Limited metered parking is available on the streets surrounding the Horseshoe and is patrolled by the City of Columbia. There is also handicapped parking around the Horseshoe for guests who have state handicapped placards or license plates. An area on the Horseshoe will be reserved for handicapped seating during the Commencement exercises. If you have a guest who needs additional accommodations due to physical disability, please email your needs to Megan Seiner by Wednesday, May 8th, 2013.
Limited access to restrooms exist in buildings on the Horseshoe, therefore guests are advised to use the facilities available in Russell House during and after the ceremony. University staff will be available to direct elderly guests and those needing special assistance to accessible restrooms located nearby.
The class picture will be taken immediately following Commencement on the steps of McKissick. The class picture will be available for download from the School of Law home page starting Monday, May 13th.
