Outstanding Law Alumni Honored by USC School of Law

The 2007 Compleat Lawyer Awards dinner was held April 19 at the Capitol City Club in Columbia. Nine South Carolina lawyers were chosen as the 2007 recipients of USC School of Law's Compleat Lawyer Award. The awards were established in 1992 by the Law School Alumni Association to recognize alumni for outstanding civic and professional accomplishments.

The Platinum Award is given to three attorneys who have been in practice for over thirty years. The recipients are:

• J. Lewis Cromer, Cromer & Mabry, Columbia
• Coming B. Gibbs, Jr., Gibbs & Holmes, P.C., Charleston
• H. Dave Whitener, Jr., Whitener & Wharton, P.A., Columbia

The Gold Award is presented to three attorneys who have been in practice for 15-30 years. The recipients are:

• David E. Dukes, Nelson, Mullins, Riley & Scarborough, LLP, Columbia
• Charles W. Patrick, Jr., Richardson, Patrick, Westbrook, & Brickman, LLC, Charleston
• J. Mark Taylor, Moore, Taylor & Thomas, P.A., West Columbia

The Silver Award is presented to three attorneys who have been in practice for 14 years or less. The recipients are:

• Anne Macon Flynn, SC State Budget & Control Board, general council, Columbia
• Dale R. "Bubba" Samuels, Jarrard & Davis, LLP, Cummings, GA
• Lorri Shealy Unumb, Charleston School of Law, associate professor, Charleston
