MOOT COURT NEWS

Last weekend, two teams of USC Law School students competed at the Regional Rounds in Brooklyn, NY, of the 2006-2007 National Appellate Advocacy Competition sponsored by the ABA's Law Student Division. Paul Landis, Henry Gallivan and David Kunes composed the membership of one Team; Todd Kincannon, Matt Howsare and Doug MacKelcan were the members of the other Team. Daniel Blomberg and Tom Reddick accompanied the advocates as managers and observers. The Teams competed with skill and energy in the five preliminary rounds, although neither Team advanced to the national finals to be held in Chicago next month. However, two of our students were honored for their exceptional oral advocacy. Todd Kincannon was named second-best oralist for the Region and Paul Landis was named fourth-best oralist. There were 37 teams participating in the Region and approximately 100 students made oral arguments. Todd and Paul, as well as their teammates, are deserving of praise and appreciation! for their dedicated efforts on behalf of the Law School and the Moot Court Bar.
