MOCK TRIAL - 2Ls and 3Ls
Tryouts for the Mock Trial competition team will be held Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings, September 4, 5, and 6, from 6-8 each night. Packets will be available on TWEN in the Mock Trial course from 10am-9pm Monday, August 27, 2007. Instructions are also provided in the course. If interested, please add the Mock Trial 2007-2008 TWEN course and look under Course Materials. Sign-up for time slots will begin Wednesday, August 29, also on the TWEN course under Sign-Up Sheets.
MOCK TRIAL - 1Ls
As mentioned during orientation, 1Ls interested in the Mock Trial program can participate as witnesses, bailiffs, and jurors. This allows you to get involved in the program, learn a bit about what's involved, and get a leg up on next year's competition. We have tryouts coming up next week, and need several witnesses and jurors. There will be a sign-up sheet beginning Wednesday, August 29 on TWEN, in the Mock Trial 2007-2008 1L Support Team course. If you are interested in getting involved this year, please add this course on TWEN and you will be notified of news and events.
JOINT JOURNAL WRITING COMPETITION
The Joint Journal Writing Competition for 2L transfer students will begin on Thursday, September 6 at 9:00 a.m. and end on Monday, September 10 at 11:30 a.m. 2L transfer students interested in competing may register on TWEN beginning on Monday, August 27 at 9:00 a.m. Please contact Lucas Asper at lucasasper@gmail.com with any questions.
PHI ALPHA DELTA
We will be having four meetings this semester, so please mark your calendars so you don't miss out. Dates are September 5, 19, 26, and October 31 - all are Wednesdays.
INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY LAW SOCIETY
The IPLS website is now available on TWEN. If you would like to receive emails regarding IPLS meetings and events please register as soon as possible. The IPLS will hold its first meeting of the year on Wed., September 5th.
CHILDRENS ADVOCACY LAW SOCIETY
CALS will be meeting on Wednesday, September 5th at 12:40. We will discuss the organization overall and welcome James Washington, a Richland County CASA representative, to speak about the Guardian ad Litem program, a program providing aid to children during the court process. The room will be announced later in the week, either in the eBrief or on hallway flyers. We will provide lunch for attendees. Come one and come all.

2007 LAW STUDENT FOOTBALL BLOCK SEATING PROGRAM
Scanning for the opening game (La. Lafayette) football tickets will be held on Monday, August 27 from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm and on Tuesday, August 28 from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm in the Student Services office, rm. 131-K. The set amount of tickets given to the law students is "287". Should the demand exceed this limit, a lottery will be held to determine the students who will be given the tickets for this game. No law student can obtain a ticket at the Russell House. The lottery listing will be posted on Wednesday, August 29 outside the Student Services office. Tickets will be distributed on Thursday, August 30, (9:00 am - 4:00 pm) and on Friday, August 31 (9:00 am - 12:00 noon. These are student tickets and must be presented at the Gate with a valid ID.
FACEBOOK PICTURES
You didn't like your picture in the 2006-2007 Facebook? Well, here is your opportunity to have a new professional picture made. New (2L Transfers/Visiting Students) and replacement pictures for 2Ls and 3Ls will be taken on Tuesday, August 28 and Wednesday, August 29th, 10a-3p, in the Photography Studio, sub level in the Law Center. Take the law school Faculty elevator down to the sublevel and follow the signs.
LOST AND FOUND DEPARTMENT
If you have lost law books, purses, laptop chargers, glass cases, etc. please check the Lost and Found department in Student Services, rm. 131-K.
2L AND 3L 2007-2008 STUDENT DIRECTORY SHEETS

3Ls will notice a sheet in their mailbox. The information requested on this sheet is very important! Please complete the sheet with updated information, be sure to sign and date it, and return it to the basket outside the Student Services office, rm. 131-K.
BAR APPLICATIONS DUE FOR FEBRUARY, 2008 SC BAR EXAM
The due date for filing SC Bar applications for the February 2008 bar exam with a filing fee of $400 is August 31, 2007. The filing fee on September 30 is $750. Only certified copies of legal documents (birth certificates, etc.) from the record provider will be accepted.
