The State of Rhode Island v. Lead Industries Association, et al

May 15, 2008

The University of South Carolina School of Law will be broadcasting arguments before the Supreme Court of Rhode Island in a noteworthy tort case.

On Thursday, May 15, 2008, from 9 am to 1 pm in Room 231 of the University of South Carolina Law Center, the Law School will be showing a web cast of the oral arguments in the case of The State of Rhode Island v. Lead Industries Association, et al. In this case, the State of Rhode Island seeks damages from several paint manufacturing companies for the use of lead paint in home construction in Rhode Island. State appellate courts generally do not allow cameras in the court room during oral arguments. Because of the widespread interest in this case, the Supreme Court of Rhode Island is allowing a webcast of the oral arguments. Attorneys from the South Carolina law firm, Motley Rice, are representing the State of Rhode Island and will be arguing before the Court on May 15th.

All interested persons are invited to the Law School to view these oral arguments. The oral arguments will also be webcast beginning at 9 am on Thursday, May 15th at this link: 198.7.228.139/content/RI_Courts/Lead_Paint_Appeal_2008_05_15/
