Professor G. Edward White of the University of Virginia School of Law will deliver the 2005 Charles W. Knowlton Lecture on Thursday, March 24, at 5:00 in the Law School Auditorium. The lecture, "Historicizing Judicial Scrutiny," will examine changing ways in which the Supreme Court evaluates decisions of other branches of government. In particular, Professor White will consider the apparent retreat by the Rehnquist Court from the approach used by the Warren Court, where he clerked for the Chief Justice. Professor White is one of the country's leading legal historians. His 12 published books have won numerous honors and awards, including final listing for the Pulitzer Prize in history, the Silver Gavel Award from the American Bar Association, the James Willard Hurst Prize from the Law & Society Association, the Littleton-Griswold Prize from the American Historical Association, the Scribes Award, and Association of American Law Schools' Triennial Book Award.
