Prue Goolsby Honored with Scholarship Endowment

Bert Goolsby, Prue Goolsby and Sylvia Ellisor

Last fall, Judge Bert Goolsby and Dr. Lane Goolsby endowed a scholarship to support a student studying library science to be employed in the circulation department of the Coleman Karesh Law Library. This scholarship has been established in honor of Judge Goolsby’s wife and Dr. Goolsby’s mother, Mary Ellen Fraser Goolsby, better known to her family and friends as Prue. Mrs. Goolsby was employed at the McKissick Library at USC from 1960 until 1972. She joined the staff of the Coleman Karesh Law Library in 1973 where she was in charge of circulation and interlibrary borrowing and lending for 20 years until her retirement in 1993. Mrs. Goolsby is a native of Walterboro, S.C. Donations to the scholarship may be made by contacting Assistant Dean Sharon Williams at 803-777-5929 or sharon@law.law.sc.edu.
