1954 Robert Pearce Wilkins is the author of 50 Things To Do With The Rest Of Your Life, a book that suggests 50 intriguing life goals from travel to time management, volunteerism and charitable giving to special interest groups, from reading to career and family matters.
 
1959 Knox L. Haynsworth Jr. is the recipient of the 2003 Tommy Thomason Award.

Edward W. Mullins Jr. was named one of 27 outstanding law firm leaders in a recent edition of Of Counsel magazine. He has also been included in the 10th edition of Best Lawyers in America.

Thomas B. Pollard Jr. has been elected to serve on the board of trustees of the South Carolina Business and Industry Political -Education Committee.
 
1963 Falcon B. Hawkins was awarded an honorary doctor of laws degree from The Citadel for his outstanding records of public and military service to country.

C. Joseph Roof has been elected to the Committee on Discipline of the S.C. Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America.

John H. Waller Jr. received an honorary degree from Francis -Marion University during its 2003 commencement ceremony.
 
1964 James C. Leventis has been appointed to the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce’s board of directors for a second two-year term.

Thomas S. Tisdale Jr. has joined the Charleston office of Nexsen Pruet, LLC, and was named a top legal practitioner in the 2004–2005 edition of Chambers USA: America’s Leading Business Lawyers. He is a former president of the South -Carolina Bar.
 
1965 William C. Boyd is listed in the 2003–2004 edition of America’s Leading Business Lawyers, a United Kingdom publication, as a key mergers and acquisitions lawyer at Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd, P.A.

Reese Joye has achieved board certification as a criminal trial advocate through the National Board of Trial Advocacy.
 
1966 Anne Waters Westbrook is an administrative judge of the U.S. Department of Agriculture Board of Contract Appeals and was elected vice chair of the board in 2003.
 
1967 George Dean Johnson Jr. was named “Business Leader of the Year” by the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce for his extraordinary service to the state.
 
1968 John P. Cardillo was honored with the Donald E. Van Koughnet “Lion of the Law” Award for Professionalism at the Collier County Bar annual reception for the judges of the -District Court of Appeals, Second District of Florida.

Patton Adams has formed a government relations consulting firm, Palmetto Policy, Inc.
 
1970 Manton M. Grier has become a -fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
 
1971 William W. Jones Jr. was elected to the USC Board of Trustees in May 2004.

Edward G. Menzie was named a top legal practitioner in the 2004–2005 edition of Chambers USA: America’s Leading Business Lawyers.

Harry Wilson has been inducted into the S.C. Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates.

Ann M. Stirling has been inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers.

Samuel C. Waters has been elected to the board of directors of the American Foreclosure Network.
 
1975 R. Glen Ayers writes and speaks on bankruptcy law.

Ronald Stanley has been inducted into the S.C. Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates.

Kenneth M. Suggs is president-elect of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.

Charles Whetstone has been inducted into the S.C. Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates.
 
1976 J. Howard Daniel was elected to serve as a member of the foundation board at the Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics.

L. Franklin Elmore has been appointed chair of Division 10 of the American Bar Association’s Forum Committee on the construction industry.
 
1977 George B. Cauthen received special recognition for his outstanding pro bono service from the Florida Bar’s Out-of-State Practitioners Division.

William S. Duffey Jr. has been appointed to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.

Stephen R. Fitzer is president of the Richland County Bar Association for 2004.

William C. Hubbard has been elected to the Council of the American Law Institute.

Alice F. Paylor has been elected treasurer of the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association.
 
1978 Robert D. Coble was named the 2004 Ambassador of the Year by the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce. He practices in the Columbia office of Nexsen Pruet, LLC, and is mayor of Columbia.

Bradish J. Waring, a partner in the Charleston office of Nexsen Pruet, LLC, has been installed as the 2004–2005 treasurer of the South Carolina Bar. He practices defense of civil actions in state and federal courts with an emphasis on commercial litigation.
 
1979 Joseph F. Rice was named one of the nation’s “Five Most Respected Plaintiff Attorneys” in a recent issue of Corporate Legal Times.

Tom Stephenson was named a top legal practitioner in the 2004–2005 edition of Chambers USA: America’s Leading Business Lawyers.
1980 Rita Bragg Cullum has been elected to the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel.

Jane W. Trinkley was honored by the YWCA of the Midlands with a 2004 TWIN Certificate of Recognition.
 
1981 Celeste T. Jones was recognized in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Business Lawyers for being outstanding in her practice.

Catherine Kennedy has been certified as a specialist in estate planning and probate law by the S.C. Supreme Court.

G. Mark Knight was cited by Chambers USA: America’s Leading Business Lawyers for his excellence in corporate law.

John B. McArthur has been appointed to the Columbia Development Corporation board of directors.
 
1982 Steve C. Davis has been elected councilman in Berkeley County District 8.

Lana H. Sims Jr. has been elected president of the South Carolina Bar Foundation’s board of directors.

David G. Traylor has been inducted into the American Board of Trial Advocates.

James L. Werner has joined the law firm of Parker, Poe, Adams & Bernstein, L.L.P., as a partner. He will concentrate his practice in construction litigation, environmental, governmental, and employment litigation.

H. Bruce Williams, who has served as a family court judge since 1995, was elected to the South Carolina Court of Appeals in May 2004.
 
1983 Mikell Scarborough has been elected Master-in-Equity for Charleston County.

Roger M. Young has been seated as circuit court judge in Charleston County. He was the former Master-in-Equity.

David Dukes has been elected first vice president of the Defense Research Institute.

Robert W. Pearce Jr. has been appointed to the South Carolina Research Centers of Excellence Review Board by Governor Mark Sanford.

John Nichols was reappointed associate member of the Board of Law Examiners by the S.C. Supreme Court and was elected treasurer of the S.C. Trial Lawyers Association.

J. Kershaw “Kerk” Spong received the Maj. Gen. Robert B. Solomon Award on behalf of the South Carolina Philharmonic for his volunteer efforts.
 
1986 Moses Boyd is an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Political Science at the University of South Carolina through 2004.

Elizabeth Holderman Bradley has been elected to the board of directors for Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands.

W. Robert Poplin Jr. has been named a Georgia Super Lawyer for 2004 by Atlanta Magazine.

J. Calhoun Watson has been accepted in the John Belton O’Neall Inn of Court and elected secretary treasurer of the S.C. Bar Foundation.

1990 Michael T. Brittingham has joined the law firm of Nexsen Pruet in Columbia.

Ed L. Clements III was named 2003 Solicitor of the Year by the South Carolina Solicitor’s Association. He was also named 2003 Outstanding Alumnus of the Year by Francis Marion University and was appointed to the FMU Alumni Association Advisory Board in 2004.

Lynne W. Rogers has been named deputy director/general counsel for the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation.

Zoe Sanders Nettles was named one of the “20 Under 40” in January’s Columbia Business Journal, and was honored by the YWCA of the Midlands with a Human Services Diamond Award.

Shannon T. Poteat was honored at the Tribute to Women in Industry (TWIN) luncheon as the 2003 TWIN Diamond Winner for spearheading the Young Lawyers -Cinderella Project.

Donna Branning Thompson is of counsel to Avtec, Inc., in Atlanta. She is an active volunteer for Bull Terrier Rescue and the Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumnae Philanthropy Chair.

Beth E. Bernstein has married Knowlton Davis “Rip” Sanders. They reside in Columbia.

Wendy Brafman has been working for the American Bar Association’s Central European and Eurasian Law Initiative in Pristina, Kosovo, since March 2002. She previously worked in the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives.

Derwin Brannon has become an associate with Murphy & Grantland in Columbia.

J. Olin McDougall has married Shawn Renee Salyer. They reside in Beaufort.

David Parrish, an attorney in Nexsen Pruet’s Charleston office, has been appointed to the Small Business Regulatory Review Committee, a new statewide commission under the S.C. Department of Commerce designed to protect small businesses from overly burdensome regulations.
