Services to the Public

Library Materials

We are a non-circulating library, but members of the public are welcome to use materials in the library during our hours of operation, which are posted on the Law Library home page.

Photocopiers

Two self-service photocopiers are available on the library's first floor in Room 104 next to the circulation desk. Copies are $.15 per page. Both copying machines require the CarolinaCard to make copies. A CarolinaCard machine is located on the 1st floor near the copying machines. This machine can be used to purchase a CarolinaCard for $1.00 plus the amount you wish to use to copy. This machine can also add money to your CarolinaCard account.

Public Access Computers

Public Internet access for research and academic use is available on the Law Library's first floor. There are no printers attached to these computers, so please bring a disk for downloading Internet content. The Law Library is not a WiFi hotspot; computers and other wireless devices brought into the library will not connect to the wireless network.

Parking

There is limited metered parking near the Law Center.

Reference Department

The Reference Department is open from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM Monday - Friday. Patrons may contact the reference desk by phone at (803) 777-5902 or via e-mail at lawref@law.sc.edu.

(To see changes in reference hours during University holidays, check the Law Library's home page.)

Legal Assistance

The following organizations provide low or no-cost legal assistance to qualifying individuals. They specialize in certain areas of law and may not be able to take on a particular case. For more information, please contact them directly. Anyone, regardless of financial circumstances, can get a DSS lawyer at no cost for the purpose of getting a child support order by calling 800-768-5858.
