Charles Albert Young
Charles Albert Young was born in Lamar in 1902. He was educated at Bailey Military Institute, Furman University, and the University of South Carolina Law School, where he received his LL.B. degree in 1927. He settled in Greenwood to practice law. He married Miss Blanche Folsom of Hartsville on June 27, 1929.
Mr. Young, familiarly known as "Cy", soon earned a well-deserved reputation as an able advocate. He was attorney for the Banking and Currency Committee of the United States Senate, a member of the Federal Judicial Council, Director and Counsel of many prosperous business institutions and Greenwood City and County Attorney. He was also a member of the Greenwood Electric Power Commission. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Greenwood.
The spirit of Mr. Young was evidenced by his interest in and assistance to young college students. Although he became a man of affluence, he was ever mindful of the needs of the less fortunate.
