Memory Hold The Door
Angus Hamilton Macaulay
We can rejoice that we knew Angus Macaulay and shared his joy of life. Educated at The Citadel and at the University of South Carolina Law School, he attained eminence as a lawyer and as a business executive. Active in public service, he was always ready to assist the disadvantaged and under-privileged. The Citadel conferred upon him its Doctor of Laws "in recognition of a career so distinguished."
A life-long resident of Chester, he married Margaret White of that city. They had two children, Angus H. Macaulay, Jr., an attorney in Richmond, Virginia and Bess White Macaulay, the wife of Thomas O. Lawton, Jr., an attorney in Allendale. He was proud of his heritage as a Scot. His wit and eloquence as an after-dinner speaker reached its peak in his address on "The Contribution of the Scot in America."
By reason of the pattern of his personality -- talented, unique and oustanding -- "Otie sits high in all the people's hearts."
