Hon. Marc H. Westbrook
1946-2005

Judge Marc H. Westbrook graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1973. During law school, he participated in the National Moot Court Competition.

He was in private law practice from 1973 to 1983. Judge Westbrook was elected in 1976 as the youngest member of the Lexington County Council. In 1978, he was elected to the S.C. House of Representatives from Lexington County, where he served until his appointment as a family court judge in 1983. He was elected to the Circuit Court in 1994, and served on the Chief Justice’s Committee on Circuit Court Technology and on the South Carolina Bar High School Mock Trial Subcommittee. He was a member of the Joint Commission on Alternative Dispute Resolution, presided over the Lexington County Drug Court, and served as chair of the planning committee for the Lexington County Courthouse Building Project. The courthouse was later named in his honor.

Westbrook is survived by his wife, Linda; his father, T.H. Westbrook, II; son, Thad H. Westbrook and his wife Christine; son, Richard N. Westbrook and his wife Ansley; and two granddaughters, Abigail Caroline Westbrook and Mary Kathleen Westbrook.
