A New Decade: Perspectives on Civil and Voting Rights

The American Constitution Society, along with the Black Law Students Association and the American Civil Liberties Union, will be hosting a screening of the film Legacy: Black and White in America to celebrate Black History Month. The film features the most celebrated African-Americans of our time and examines the political rise of Barack Obama against the backdrop of changing racial attitudes in America. Following the film, Meredith Bell-Platts of the ACLU Voting Rights Project will discuss the current issues in voting rights, including the proposed Voter ID bill in the General Assembly and the upcoming redistricting. The evening promises to be both educational and thought-provoking.

The event will take place on Tuesday, February 23, in the auditorium at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome.
