Statement of Purpose

The Federalist Society is founded on the principles laid down by James Madison, the primary author and architect of the U.S. Constitution. Those principles are that the state exists to preserve freedom, that the separation of governmental powers is central to our Constitution, and that it is the duty of the judiciary to say what the law is, not what it should be. Debates are set up to include nationally prominent speakers. Some of the issues debated are topics on the future of Miranda, the continuing viability of affirmative action, abortion, charter schools and many other possibilities.

2007-08 Officers:

  • President: Christopher Marrin

  • Vice President: Dylan Goff
  • Secretary: Duncan Teed
  • Treasurer: T.R. Sanford
