Service Members & Veterans in Law
Statement of Purpose
Service Members and Veterans in Law encourages public interest in, and pro bono work on, issues related to the welfare and interests of military personnel and veterans; helps veterans assimilate into law school; and creates networking opportunities between veterans in the legal community and students who share similar backgrounds.
Ways to help the Service Members and Veterans in Law:
- Join our network of veterans and service members who are also practicing attorneys by sending your name and contact information to: svlusc@gmail.com. This way your fellow service members who are currently in law school can reach out to you for career advice, etc.
- Sign up to do Pro Bono work: If you would like to provide Pro Bono work for service members or veterans, please send a description of the area of law you could provide services in, how many hours you would be able to spend on an issue, and your contact information to svlusc@gmail.com. If the group learns of anyone who requires your services we will have someone contact you about the issue to verify you can help.
- Prospective incoming students: let us know about incoming students who are also veterans so we can get in touch with and ensure they have smooth transition from the military to the classroom.
