Regulatory Pathfinder for Coastal Development in South Carolina

Open Burning & Land Clearing

Open Burning of materials, including land clearing debris, is against the law, unless the burning is done in compliance with South Carolina Air Pollution Control Regulations, S.C. Code Regs. 61-62.2, which can be found here.

In addition, it is also illegal to dump land clearing debris into wetlands, waterways or ditches.
