South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC)

The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control is supervised by the South Carolina Board of Health and Environmental Control. S.C. Code Ann. Section 44-1-20. DHEC's responsibilities are dynamic, and include inspecting restaurants, investigating environmental pollution, responding to chemical spills, responding to disease outbreaks, and protecting our coastal resources. DHEC's responsibilities are divided into four deputy areas, including: Environmental Quality Control, Ocean and Coastal Resource Management, Health Regulation, and Health Service.

South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (DNR)

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources works to improve South Carolina's quality of life by protecting and conserving South Carolina's natural resources. As part of this objective the Department of Natural Resources issues state fishing and hunting licenses, as well as rules and regulations regarding boating, hunting and fishing. The Department is responsible for the South Carolina Environmental Awareness Award and the South Carolina Endangered Wildlife Fund.
