Pro Bono Program Ready to Help Community with Free Tax Assistance
For the 22nd year the USC School of Law Pro Bono Program will provide free income tax preparation for the public. Trained and certified volunteer law students with the VITA program will be available to complete and eFile simple Federal and SC tax returns for persons making under $51,000. To receive assistance you must bring a government issues photo identification. Social security cards for the taxpayers and any dependents and ALL documents needed to complete the return. This includes all W-2ís, 1098ís and Child Care forms. If your filing status is Married Filing Jointly, both people must be present to sign the forms. The volunteers do NOT complete business returns (Schedule C) complicated sales of stocks and bonds, or non-resident alien forms.
The VITA program operates on a first come, first served basis, no appointments taken. Volunteers will be available every Sat. from 9am-12 and every Wed from 5:30-8pm starting on Feb. 11th and ending on March 31st.
