4th Incoming Law Student Community Service Project on Friday, August 24

| |

USC School of Law students dressed in t-shirts printed with the words "united we serve the community" will take part in the 4th Incoming Law Student Community Service Project. On Friday, August 24 at 1:30 members of the new class will be joined by members of the faculty and staff and lead by their peer mentors as they strive to make a difference in 17 locations around the Midlands.

During the afternoon the teams will paint apartments, sort food and clothes, landscape, move furniture, reshelf books and a variety of other tasks. Law students volunteer throughout the year with a number of the organization to help address legal issues, but for this one afternoon they will not be relying on their professional skills. Instead they will be making a difference with a totally different set of skills- strong backs and a willingness to get dirty!

A reporter who is a member of the Pro Bono Board, who will be taking photos, interviewing students and gathering impressions from the event, will accompany each team. All of this information will be captured for a real time Blog: service.scschooloflaw.org

The Incoming Law Student Community Service Project is a joint effort sponsored by the School of Law Office of Student Affairs, the Pro Bono Program and the SBA.

By the end of the day on Friday, the sponsors hope that each student will have a greater knowledge about the needs of the community and the organizations that work to address those needs. After the event everyone can check out the blog, revisit their efforts and share the experience with the entire Law School community.
