Good Deed Friday is a once or twice a month community service project organized by the Pro Bono Program and conducted in conjunction with either the SBA or another student organization. It is open to all law students and is an opportunity to build on the camaraderie started at the Incoming Law Student Community Service Project. It is also a chance to de-stress after a long week of studying, get out of the building and get one’s hands dirty and heart beating! These opportunities to work alongside your peers in the pro bono arena and with many of the community human service providers in the Midlands are a popular and fun event.
Good Deed Friday has been held since 2011 and each Friday afternoon the law students come away from the experience with a better grasp on the meaning of service. Past locations have included: the Habitat ReStore, Homeworks, the Free Medical Clinic, Harvest Hope Food Bank and Protection and Advocacy for People with Disabilities. Each Good Deed Friday only needs a limited number of volunteers. Students are encouraged to watch for announcements and sign up information on TWEN, Twitter and within the law school.
